About the New Orleans Council on Aging
NOCOA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving older adults in Orleans Parish with dignity, respect, and care.
Our Mission
Our mission is to protect the rights, promote the well-being, and enhance the self-esteem of older adults in New Orleans by generating opportunities for self-reliance and independence.
Who We Serve
We primarily serve adults age 60 and older who live in Orleans Parish, with a focus on low-income seniors and those at highest risk of isolation, hunger, and neglect.
Our History
The New Orleans Council on Aging has served the community for decades as the designated agency focused on seniors in Orleans Parish. Our programs have grown to include meals, transportation, in-home support, caregiver services, and senior centers.
We work closely with city, state, and federal partners, as well as community organizations, to reach older adults who might otherwise be overlooked.
Our Core Commitments
Dignity & Respect
We believe every older adult deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of income, race, or neighborhood.
Equity & Access
We work to reach seniors who face barriers because of poverty, disability, housing, or lack of transportation.
Accountability
We are committed to transparent use of public and private funds and to strong stewardship of community trust.
