Mission
The New Orleans Council on Aging (NOCOA) exists to protect the rights, promote the well being, and enhance the self-esteem of New Orleans elderly by generating opportunities for self-reliance and independence.

The New Orleans Council on Aging is a private, non-profit corporation which serves as the Area Agency on Aging for Orleans Parish. The agency is responsible for insuring that a comprehensive and coordinated assortment of social, recreational, educational, and nutritional services are provided to persons aged 60 and over in the City of New Orleans.

Community Services
The Director serves as a community liaison by developing collaborative relationships with providers in the aging network. The director engages in outreach activities, media relations, community engagement, web development, and fund prospecting to create new avenues for service delivery. The agency is fully committed to seeking out new partneships and enlisting new programs with the goal of attaining a Community Based System of Care for older adults.

The Elder Action Coalition is a quarterly, networking forum made up of service providers to discuss issues and topics pertinent to the implementation of a system of care for older adults. The purpose of the Elder Action Coalition is to improve the overall quality of life for Senior Citizens living in the Metropolitan New Orleans area. One of the core tenets of the coalition is to promote open dialogue and exchange among members within the provider network. The idea is to illuminate relevant issues within a community-based system of care and promote collaboration among service providers.
 
Why is the EAC important? It is a social network of providers working collaboratively to maximize resources, share expertise and knowledge, strengthen the local aging infrastructure, and support the needs of older adults and caregivers in the metro community.
